Trying to be a bit more conscious this January of your health and of the planet. You may have decided to try Veganuary.

However, if this is your first time trying to go vegan then you might not know where to begin.

Thankfully there are plenty of Irish brands to tuck into this month. Oh, and if you think vegan food is dull and boring then think again.

You won’t have to sacrifice any yummy goodness by switching up your lifestyle. Here are some Irish brands that can help you make the change.

White Mausu

We all love a little bit of flavour in our meals and White Mausu makes condiments like no other.

Cooks Katie and Jasper came together to create absolutely delectable rāyus inspired by Korea, Japan, and China, all made in Dublin.

You can pick up their Peanut Rāyu, Cashew Crunch and Black Bean Rāyu on their website as well as at stockists around the country. Oh, and they have loads of handy recipes there for you to try out.

Fiid

Life can be busy. And sometimes it’s just easier to, well, not cook. Unfortunately, this can mean that we don’t get the healthiest of meals.

This is what Shane Ryan was thinking when he created Fiid in 2018. He wanted a healthy alternative to microwave meals. This is where his plant-based meal bowls that include everything from chillies to curries.

The ready meal company is available to buy on their website as well as in supermarkets, including Aldi and SuperValu, across Ireland.

Strong Roots

We love frozen bits to pop into the oven after a long day at work. And so does Strong Roots.

Founder and CEO Sam Dennigan created the brand in 2015 and was a massive success here in Ireland.

From chips to veggie nuggets you won’t have to miss out on anything. And there are plenty of plant substitutes for less healthy processed food.

And if you want to experiment they have loads of recipes on their site which are delicious.

Homespun

If you want to make your breakfast vegan then we have you covered. Well, Homespun does.

Erica Sheehan created the brand after she started selling her Quinoa Crunch at farmer’s markets, which would sell out every week.

The Quinoa Crunch range launched into independent retailers in Dublin and since then it is now available in multiple stores across Ireland, the UK and the UAE.

If you want to start your day right or just a snack throughout the day, this one’s for you.

Camile Thai

Who said that you can’t have a little treat when you go vegan?

Camile has a whole selection of vegan meals on their menu including the Vegan Pad Thai, Vegan Green Curry, and Vegan Pad Prik Haeng, if you need inspiration.

So yum!

Naked Bakes

If you have a sweet tooth then you may be worried about how you can tuck into delicious treats when plenty of them are created with non-vegan products.

Aisling Tuck wanted to create plant-based baked goods so everyone could enjoy them. Thankfully you don’t have to be Mary Berry as Naked Bakes has the cookie dough ready to go, all you need to do is cook it.

The Naked Bakes range includes Chocolate Chip Cookie Dough, Peanut Butter Choc-Chip, Red Velvet, Salted Double Choc-Chip Brookie, and the latest release, Triple Chocolate, the perfect blend of vegan white, milk and dark chocolate chips.

You can order them from her website or from retailers around Ireland including Centra, Supervalu and Lidl.
